IIT Jammu aims at building a vibrant entrepreneurial and start-up ecosystem at IIT Jammu under the 3G IITs development cohort. The older IITs have, over the past couple of decades, built and nurtured such ecosystems in the form of research parks and innovation centres. 3rd generation IITs, by learning from the past experience of older IITs, can ramp up ecosystems of their own in a much-reduced timeframe. It is crucial for the 3G IITs to lead by example in their region in demonstrating that the future of the country is much better served and secured through a healthy and significant pool of job creators than job seekers in core and deep teaching sectors.
The vision of the Innovation and Research Park at IIT Jammu is to deliberate at the larger domain for startup ecosystems. The present interest of IIT Jammu focuses on defence technology and climate technologies. The strategic location of the institute enables the potential to work on such fields and support the technologies for several organisations. The research park will collaborate with other industry professionals and research institutes to provide all kinds of support, which includes the place, manufacturing facility, industrial mentorships, and financial support.
IIT Jammu has developed its initial phase of the infrastructure and already started working on the research and innovation park. The Research and Innovation Park is (will be) a non-profit organisation, and in the early stages of the development, the IIT Jammu will support it. IIT Jammu seeks the help and support from our well-wishers. Our well-wishers can support the park in multiple ways:
1. The park will welcome our well-wishers to invest in any of the companies that are being incubated at the park. This will surely enable our well-wishers to earn the profits in the long term.
2. The park seeks mentorship and industrial collaboration for the technological development in the region. Therefore, professional industrialists across the nation as well as abroad are welcome to join the park for mentoring the companies and entrepreneurs. 3. Our well-wishers can donate as well to make the research park successful. The research park is registered as a non-profit organisation, which allows our well-wishers to be tax exempt.
