The Centre for Essential Skills (CES) IIT Jammu was established in 2021 and is an integral part of the Department of Education & Outreach. The Centre is seeded with a clear objective of reaching out to the larger community of the region and beyond and contributing to their growth and development.
The Centre undertakes activities leading to skilling development. The skilling programs are conducted not only at IIT Jammu but also onsite locations such as month long skilling programs at districts such as Doda, Kishtwar & Reasi. Further, the centre is involved in capacity building programs for the staff members of ITI and Polytechnic institutions of higher education, J&K. One instance is cooling Innovation Lab that was setup in collaboration with IFC-Tabreed in 2023, has since evolved into a Research hub and go-to place of state of the art HVAC infrastructure training all over India.
