IITJammu has a social welfare group ‘KRITASH’ along with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan for social welfare. These groups have been working actively on different occasions for the betterment of what society needs. Indeed, the students, faculties, and staff have cheered and volunteered for the social welfare. The IITJammu, in collaboration with National Service Schemes (NSS) and other local NGOs, has been encouraging and trying to support the social welfare activities.
The students at IIT Jammu have volunteered for multiple educational outreach programs to share their learning with the other students up to K-12 in the vicinity of Jammu. The IIT Jammu family has volunteered for social donation drives on several occasions. These drives go beyond helping the poor families. On various occasions, people have volunteered for human-to-human help by participating in blood donation and cleaning the holy Tavi river to set an ideal example for the society. The institute, with the help of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, has provided the platform to promote the Jammu and Kashmir traditional art works made by the locals in the vicinity. The institute has already extended the support for the folk songs and classical folk dance on various occasions, showing a diverse culture of Jammu and Kashmir to the IIT Jammu family.
